Recycling end-of-life vehicles makes another key contribution to environmental protection. Disused vehicles offer valuable raw materials and help to conserve natural resources. Around 75% of a Mercedes-Benz, for example, is made of steel that can be 100% recycled.
In order to be able to use secondary materials efficiently, Mercedes-Benz developed its own recycling management system (MeRSy). MeRSy has systematically recorded old parts manufactured since 1993, including airbags, shock absorbers, starter batteries, tyres and even service fluids.
If you are interested in disused vehicle take-back, more information is available at
www.mercedes-benz.de/altfahrzeugverwertung. Here you can find out more about acceptance conditions and your local take-back depots.
In order to make the recycling process more efficient in the future, new
Mercedes models are designed to be suitable for end-of-life processing. The raw materials used in the vehicles are easier to recycle and the proportion of materials than cannot be reprocessed is minimised.
